Saturday started out slowly. I think. I don't even remember eating breakfast, which shows you how tired I was.

Once again, we met in front of the A. Jennifer and Sal were going to be late. The rest of us went into Disney's California Adventure and, since it's tradition, even though I don't recall, I'd venture to say our first ride was Soarin' Over California.

From there, we probably headed over to Paradise Pier. Brian, Eric and Jon went on the Maliboomer. A couple of times. AJ and I rode the Sun Wheel while Susan, Liz and Sally went into the shops. I think. Saturday morning isn't really clear in my head. And I didn't take the camera. And, so far, nobody else, with the exception of Peggy, who was also late, can remember much more than me. Age or just sensation overload? Hmm? If one of our group can refresh my memory, I'll make the needed additions and changes.

One of the sucky things was that Paradise Pier closed down early Friday night and was again scheduled for an early close on Saturday. So those who could do the wild rides, did them. Liz, Sally and I sat out Screamin' while the others went on it. Then at some point, we ended up in a Bug's Land.

This land is so well themed, it's like old times. Even the benches are themed, looking like they were made with used popsicle sticks. The bumper cars were a big hit (Brian and I didn't ride them because we were eating frozen bananas). From there, we went over to the show "It's a Bug's Life" which is always fun. Sally screamed.

Then I went back to the room to get stuff for headaches (Jon and Eric came with me and Eric took some Excedrin). While I was there, I also grabbed our ponchos.

Now last year, on the Grizzly River Run, the women bought ponchos before going on the ride. Proud of ourselves, we made Ws out of our fingers, held them to our heads and yelled "we're WUSSIES!" because we really didn't relish the idea of being wet. Brian, on the other hand, was as cool as he usually is. He didn't need no stinking poncho. And he stayed dry for the majority of the ride. But towards the very end, one of the geysers shot up and ended up down his back, so much water that it actually went onto his pants and soaked through to his underwear. And last year, we didn't bring extra clothes for such an occasion. And Brian was in a bad mood for the rest of the day. So, this year, we packed extra clothes and I also packed the poncho I got last year and the one we got so many years ago, when we used to do day trips during the winter, back when rain was a normal thing in Southern California. I was pleased that we still had two ponchos.

Back at the park, Brian said he didn't want to wear a poncho. Eric and Jon said that getting wet was part of the fun. Brian handed his poncho to Liz and Liz, AJ, Susan and I all donned our ponchos, yelling gleefully, "we're WUSSIES!!!" with the obligatory wussie finger sign. And we got onto the ride. And we rode. And we didn't get wet. Although the menfolk did. And once we got off of the ride, we laughed and we got right back into line. It was quite a bit of fun. After that ride, we took our ponchos off, shook them out and let AJ put these still wet things in her backpack.

Sometime shortly after that, AJ, Susan and Liz left to meet up with the people who hadn't yet arrived. Liz was going to meet Sal and Jen and AJ and Susan went to meet Larry, Sally's friend. Brian, Eric and Jon went back over to Paradise Pier. We were to meet at the food court for lunch. I was there by myself and stretched out and enjoyed the quiet. A little hungry, I walked over to Bountiful Valley and got some cut vegetables with a creamy dip and a bottle of water. I went back to the food area and waited for everyone to show up. But before they arrived, I had to find a restroom. On my way back, I went into the tortilla factory, because I'd heard so much about the fresh tortillas they hand out. I got a flour tortilla and boy, was it good. Back outside, Peggy showed up and we went back through the tortilla factory, this time getting corn tortillas. Yummy. We went to the seating area and others started showing up.

We met Larry, Jen and Sal showed up eating ice creams. And the rest of us got our lunch. I have to say, it wasn't impressive. I was glad I'd eaten the vegetables earlier.

After lunch, we headed over to Soarin' Over California, which everyone loved. Larry said he could ride it over and over and over again. I know the feeling. Then we went over to Golden Dreams. For some reason, we had split up again. I think the guys went back over to Paradise Pier to ride Screamin' again, now that Larry was here, but the ride had broken down. And I think the smokers went to have a smoke. Liz and I were the only two waiting outside of the theater.

Liz, keeping me entertained
